EnergyBalance AHC Complete® is a nutritional supplement based on immunostimulation and immunomodulation notions. Combining traditional healing knowledge and the latest scientific research, Dr. Wurster and the EnergyBalance® Team have developed a product that contributes to the physiological support of the body's natural defences. EnergyBalance AHC Complete® is rich of alpha glucans, polyphenols, flavonoids. Thanks to a special fermentation process, this supplement is rich in immune-active substances, which synergistically multiply the effectiveness of each and every substance. One of the main active ingredients is the freeze-dried extract of the fermented shiitake mycelium.

What is Hexose Correlated Compound?
EnergyBalance AHC Complete® (the abbreviation for Active Hexose Correlated Compound) is a food supplement made out of mycelium of the Shiitake mushroom (Lentinus edodes). Shiitake is a very important edible mushroom in Japan and China, used in gastronomy as well as in traditional medicine due to its effective medicinal power. Unlike a simple vitamin or mineral preparation, EnergyBalance AHC Complete® is a very complex mixture, made of many different natural substances. In addition to amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, it also contains alpha-glucans, the most important component of EnergyBalance AHC Complete®.
20% of Ative Hexose Compound dry weight it is actually made of short-chain acetylated alpha-glucans. These special glucans are able to pass through the intestinal mucosa much more easily than long-chain glucans. Moreover they are not found in the body of the shiitake mushroom, but only in the filaments of the mycelium: they must therefore not be confused with the simple dried mushroom. These types of glucans - modified in the production process - are contained exclusively in the Active Hexose Correlated Compound.
In traditional naturopathy, glucan-rich mushroom and cereal extracts have played an important role in many cultures for centuries. In evidence-based medicine, the many health-promoting effects of glucans from plants and fungi have been known since the late 20th century. Dietary fiber has proven to be fundamental in nutrition; and dietary fiber such as glucans regulate blood sugar and fat levels and are indispensable for intestinal flora. Today the interest of research is going further: the different types of glucans (alpha and beta) are in fact taken into consideration by some studies for their potential effectiveness on the immune system (see bibliography of the studies at the bottom of the page).
What effects do the active ingredients in Energy Balance AHC Complete® have?
Scientific literature tells us that alpha-glucans behave as if they were immunostimulants and immunomodulators. This means that the right combination of active ingredients, such as these, may be able to support the immune system. Normally the so-called immune modulators on the one hand can activate and improve the body's defences, while on the other hand they can regulate and normalise an overactive immune system.
What distinguishes EnergyBalance AHCComplete® from AHCC®?
In EnergyBalance AHCComplete®, alpha glucans (300mg daily portion) have been integrated with other natural "immune-active" ingredients to obtain a synergistic effect of the various components, by implementing the natural physiological defence. In addition to alpha-glucans, EnergyBalance AHCComplete® contains:
Beta-1,3-glucans
The several stimulating properties of Beta-glucans, obtained from yeasts, have been demonstrated in over 80 clinical studies. Glucans have an impact on many aspects of the body: they activate both the cells of the non-specific defence and those of the specific defence - in other words, they strengthen the entire defensive system.
Ginger extract (gingerol and 6-shogaol)
Ginger - one of the oldest medicinal plant in the world - has renowned antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory properties. Oleuropein - natural defence system
Olive trees are highly resistant to fungal attacks and diseases. Some olive trees are long living. Such characteristic seems to be due to its natural defence system which protects the tree from being attacked. Olive leaves, unripe olives (and to a lesser extent ripe olives and unrefined olive oil) are rich of polyphenols, the effects of which are well known today. Numerous highly protective effects have been demonstrated for the most important of these substances (oleuropein). This is why there are olive trees capable of living up to 1000 years.
Natural vitamin D, from inactive yeast
Numerous experimental studies have led to the fact that vitamin D is no longer only considered for its classic role in calcium metabolism, but it also has an important function as an immunomodulator: almost every types of immune cells have receptors for vitamin D on their surfaces. This is why EnergyBalance AHC Complete® also contains natural vitamin D.
Selenium (from inactive yeast)
Selenium is probably one of the most underrated micronutrients. Such trace element is though a central component of selenoproteins, which play on important role in the immune related processes. The integration with selenium stimulates the body's natural defences. To be exact it is "selenium yeast", a beer yeast grown on a nutrient of selenium, which is rich in selenomethionine and selenocysteine amino acids.
