The Discovery of Salvestrols
In 2002, Professor Gerry Potter identified a way in which certain compounds found in common foods can influence cell death. He discovered that an enzyme called CYP1B1 metabolizes a specific class of these compounds, which he and Professor Burke named "salvestrols". When salvestrols are metabolized by this enzyme, they release a substance that can initiate the process of apoptosis, or the selective destruction of malignant cells.

The CYP1B1 Enzyme
In certain situations, free radicals can evade the defenses of enzymes and antioxidants. British scientists discovered that, in response to free radicals, healthy cells can change to produce the enzyme CYP1B1. This process leads to the formation of a metabolite in mutated cells, which facilitates the normal apoptosis of these cells, or the programmed death of cells when they are no longer functional.

Bioactivated Betaglucans
Dr. Jens Wurster is committed to maximizing the impact of natural active ingredients on our health and has added a special bioactivator in the form of beta-glucans to the formulation of Save:Strol CYPIBI®. In line with scientific studies, beta-1,3/1,6-glucans are the most effective natural modulators of the immune system due to their role in stimulating the activity of macrophages (histiocytes). Macrophages are part of the immune system cells and are used to eliminate microorganisms through cellular phagocytosis. They likely represent the oldest part of the innate human immune system.

Oleuropein – Olive Tree Defense Weapon
The olive tree is highly resistant to diseases and fungi caused by bacteria. This is enabled by the powerful "immune system" of the plant. The substance mainly responsible is oleuropein, a polyphenol present even in the leaves. The olive tree uses oleuropein to protect itself from microbes, fungi, and parasites.
